AP Government and EPDCL in collaboration with EESL (Energy Efficiency Service Ltd.,) is planning to launch a pilot project to replace approximately one lakh old fans with new energy efficient ones in a bid to consume energy. This project was encouraged due to positive results achieved in the CFL Bulb replacement campaign
Latest info is that pilot project will be launched around third week of February-2016 in Narsapuram Village which is located in West Godavari district. In this project they provide Energy efficient fans through installment basis to the users as a replacement to their old fans. The costs will be recovered on monthly electricity bills in 19 EMI’s of INR. 100each.
Mr. Saurabh Kumar who the MD of EESL, has revealed that the new fans will be 40 % more energy efficient and save the electricity bills by INR 750 per year. The saving will be 150 units @ INR 5per unit. The cost of the new fan will be recovered over a span of 3 years.
According to Official sources says that project was planned to be executed in the state of Andhra Pradesh given the encouragement provided by the particular authorities. They have already obtained go ahead from the Electricity Regulatory Commission to launch this project and depending on the success it will be planned for a nationwide launch.
