Airtel has launched an interactive map microsite that shows the network coverage in your area. Project Leap reveals the company’s plans on its network modernization plans, providing detailed information on the state-wise progress, with geographic locations of its voice and data sites superimposed on a map.
With this Airtel says it’s being open about its network infrastructure plans and you will also find state-wise progress, locations with data and voice and so on. Project Leap’s highlights for Mumbai include 4266 voice and data sites (2G), 86 additional voice and data sites coming up in March 2016 (2G), 7706 high speed data sites and 975 additional high speed data sites coming up in March 2016.
Gopal Vittal, MD and CEO, Bharti Airtel (India and South Asia) in an emailed statement said “Our new website is targeted at a first of its kind effort in sharing with total transparency the progress we are making in every street and locality in the country. Our customers will be able to see the progress of their network in their respective localities”.
The interactive map microsite has sections for reporting issues and for highlighting how the air waves are safe and harmless to anyone. Airtel writes “Frequency of airwaves emitted from Cellphone towers are similar to those emitted by other non ionizing sources like FM Radio, TV and laptops”.
